Born in Israel, but American citizen, Rhea Carmi express her own pictorial style together with her character and her soul, through geometrical signs.
All Nature is pervaded by geometry because this is the order of everything and the order of Universe. In her works everything is organized and detailed because everything is important and nothing can be obtained without fight and strength.
This is the lesson learned from her husband, a survivor of the Olocaust and the lesson inherited from the people of Israel: that of never surrender to the difficulties of the existence, but that of fighting very hard to obtain what we believe in.
The scientific side of her character leads her to divide the pictorial field in vertical and horizontal lines. But geometry by itself does not satisfy entirely her interiority because her vitality and her passion lead her to a Universe full of emotion.
Her “architectural” spaces contain also color and light, this last given through strong yellows and powerful whites.
Light in its highest symbolic aspect: as catharsis from the evil, not as purification of oneself, but as emerging from the darkness.
The endless fight for life, the balance between good and evil, expressed in her works through the succession of geometrical lines and colors with an endless rhythm such as the one reveled and discovered in her life and her character.
